Occasionally, we'll offer a discount (to round a rental down, offer a good deal, etc...) It is better to offer the discount as a line item so the client sees the break they are getting.

Follow this process to add a discount line-item.

Adding Discount Line Item

  • In the Opportunity's Screen, select "Add a new opportunity item/group" and choose Item.
  • In the Item Dialog, Select the "Text Item" radio button
  • In the Name field, enter the discount description.
  • In the Transaction Type, select "Sale"
  • In the Quantity field, enter 1
  • Leave Rate Definition to Daily and don't touch the other fields of that section.
  • To change total without affecting Taxes, set Tax Class to "Service Exempt"
  • Enter the Discount Dollars as a negative number in the price field (i.e. -100 for a $100 discount)
  • Select Create Opportunity Item button
