This is the page that describes the general business operations at JML.

Communications

JML uses email extensively to communicate with customers and we use some for internal use.

However, since many of the internal business communication is ephemeral, we are now using slack as a communication mechanism. Slack workspace: jmlproductions.slack.com

We have setup the following channels:

  • rental-paperwork - For the check-in/check-out forms, instead of sending with email, use slack photo.
  • needslist - List of stuff we need: expendables, office supplies, etc...
  • shop-ideas - Ideas to improve the shop, etc..
  • general - General items

We also use Trello to keep a more permanent record of things to do, ideas for the shop, etc... We have the following boards:

  • Purchase - Stuff to buy
  • Shop- Ideas - Ideas to improve the shop, so we can capture and not forget
  • TODO - Things that need to be done.

If you are not on trello, ask to be added and you'll get an email.

Work Payment

JML uses Square payroll to pay contractors. When you on board, square will send you an email to setup your square account to receive direct deposit.

If you have your own company, we need a W-9 for your company and then we can send payments using paypal (or electronic invoice if you use something else). For a company payment, we don't use square.
