Occasionally, we'll offer a discount (to round a rental down, offer a good deal, etc...) It is better to offer the discount as a line item so the client sees the break they are getting.
Follow this process to add a discount line-item.
Adding Discount Line Item
- In the Opportunity's Screen, select "Add a new opportunity item/group" and choose Item.
- In the Item Dialog, Select the "Text Item" radio button
- In the Name field, enter the discount description.
- In the Transaction Type, select "Sale"
- In the Quantity field, enter 1
- Leave Rate Definition to Daily and don't touch the other fields of that section.
- To change total without affecting Taxes, set Tax Class to "Service Exempt"
- Enter the Discount Dollars as a negative number in the price field (i.e. -100 for a $100 discount)
- Select Create Opportunity Item button
