C-Clamps are a clamp that is used to rig up baby or junior items on items that are too big for something like a pipe clamp or a Cardellini Clamp. They can clamp onto something as large as 10-11", so they are often used to mount rigging points onto beams or other large overhead objects.

Uses

There are a lot of different types of C-Clamps and they come in 4", 6", 8", 10", and 12" sizes. Each of those will come with either baby pins or junior receivers depending on what item or light you'd like to put on it. You can use them to:

  • Rig lights directly to a beam
  • To rig speedrail that can be used for further rigging.

When using a C-Clamp, cribbing should be put where the c-clamp touches the beam to protect against the teeth of the clamp. This will give the c-clamp something to bite into and spread the force more evenly over a greater surface area. The cribbing can also be taped into place so it can be operated hands-free as the clamp is tightened.

There are also Speedrail C-Clamps, which have the c-clamp cut in half and a 1-1/4" speedrail receiver welded to each end. Because they are split into two, they can be made as large as you like. Further speedrail rigging can be attached to the points created by this clamp.
